About WSH

What was in the minds of the people who first visualized an organization for horsemen? Certainly the ten or twelve people had nothing to offer but an idea. They believed that by associating themselves together and inviting others to join them, certain things could be achieved that would be impossible individually. This simple thought is the backbone of our organization. From their single idea, conceived in 1941, there have been many accomplishments.

During the early years of WSH most attention and effort was directed toward the improvement of horse shows. Out of this came four major divisions - the Horse Show Division, the Western Games Division, the Competitive Trail Division, and the Trails and Pleasure Division.

The membership of Washington State Horsemen includes people who are interested in trail riding, play days, horseshows, game shows, or an occasional ride. Others keep horses just because they love them and like to have them around. In fact, some members don't even own a horse. WSH unites all of these people, for the common good of all. Making of new friends and meeting old friends though a common interest, "the horse," is the reason WSH has existed for over sixty years. Washington State Horsemen is for all horse people in Washington.
