The CTR Division has existed in WSH since 1967. It has seen many periods of growth and changes. It almost became nonexistent by 2002 but a small group of dedicated CTR riders have been working hard to keep the division alive since 2003. We’ve made many changes to our rules in the hopes of improving the sport for both competitors and ride managers. We’ve tried to learn from all the other regional & national CTR organizations and I can honestly say that we have put together a great CTR program.
We have a wonderful group of Open division riders that are eager to help newcomers. We have a great set of novice rules to help new CTR riders and horses get started in CTR. We allow all riders to participate no matter what their shoeing preferences. We encourage & support our members to continue in their conditioning and training to properly advance to the sport of endurance.
We also have a great year end awards program for each of the Divisions.
Although we only have a 2-3 rides in Washington, our riders are able use out of state rides to qualify for year end awards. Some of the other organizations that are putting on rides are the British Columbia Competitive Trail Association, Hooves & Company out of Montana, North American Trail Ride Conference and the Arabian Horse Association. All of their rides can be used by our members for year end awards and they all do a great job of putting on Competitive Trail Rides in our region.
So don’t be shy. Like they say in Canada. Get outa the ring and out on the trail!!!!
“Competitive Trails rides are open to everyone.”
