New for 2010-

  •  YOUTH MEMBERSHIP:  We will be offering a Youth Membership of $10.  This is for any youth who wants to join that isn’t joining through a Family Membership.  As much as possible we want to encourage families to join together because we are a family friendly organization and want everyone involved.  However we know that there are times when only a youth wants to participate so this will allow them to do it at a lesser rate.
  • HARD COPY CANTER FOR ALL HOUSEHOLDS:  This year we will be returning to a hard copy version of the Canter that will be sent to all households 3 times a year.   Be sure to continue to include e-mail addresses on all of the membership forms so that we can continue to send out e-mail correspondences in between.
  • GAMES DIVISION:  The requirement for officials at State Approved Shows has been decreased from 4 to 3.  Shows can have 1 person be both the Steward and the Judge plus the 1st timer is the only one that has to be carded.  2nd timer doesn’t have to be carded.   The rule changes that were passed will be posted on the website.
  • HORSE SHOW DIVISION:  Participants will now be able to pay a flat fee of $200 to sign up for as many Year End Awards as they want.  The $12/$15 per class will still be an option for those who only want to sign up for a few classes.
  • TRAILS AND PLEASURE DIVISION:  They will be splitting out the awards so there will now be an award for Trail Miles only as well as a separate award for Pleasure/Show Miles.
  •  COMPETITIVE TRAIL DIVISION:  The rule changes will be voted on at the Spring Meeting which will be held in Everett.  Check the website for more details.
  •  WEBSITE:  The WSH website can now be accessed by either going to www.wshorsemen.com  or to www.washingtonstatehorsemen.com  .  It has been completely re-done.  It’s still under construction so be sure to check back regularly.
  • LICENSED OFFICIALS:  We now offer a “fast track” for those individuals who currently are carded judges in other organizations and breeds who want to become WSH Judges.  A new Handbook for the Judges is being created.  The new program as well as the current learner program will be available to download off of the website.  The 2010 LOC Chair is Patti Burns.  She can also be contacted with questions.  We also have 2 new Judges including Lillian Evaniew-Phelan and Pam Kiehn and  1 new Steward who is Camille Holland.
  •  YOUTH MERIT:  Several donations were collected over the course of the Convention weekend so we are in good shape for 2010.  The workbooks will be available on the website or from the YM State Director’s.
  • ROYALTY COURT:  Kayla Ackley of White Swan was crowned the 2010 Queen.  The Royalty Court is looking for participants who want to run this year to be crowned at the 2010 Convention.  Check the website for more details or contact David or Heidi Masengale.
  • NEW  WSH “OWNER’S MANUAL/HANDBOOK”:  A new booklet is being created that will include information from all of the Division that can be used to promote WSH.  It will be available in January.
